Every kind of shelf has a different weight limit; therefore, it is important to use the correct brackets for whatever application you are using your shelves for.

When choosing stationary brackets, you can select very decorative to heavy duty ones.

For the brackets that offer the best strength for your shelves select the ones that have diagonal supports.

Tips for hanging shelves

When starting attach the longest bracket to the wall and the shorter arm to the shelf. When possible you should always anchor the supports directly to wall studs. This makes for much sturdier shelves.

If you find you have to anchor your brackets between studs, always use mollies and toggle bolts. Make sure you follow the manufacturers weight limits when using mollies and bolts.

If you are putting your shelves up on a cement or brick wall then use only masonry anchors to attach your shelf supports.

You will find any number of shelving material from horizontal cantilevered brackets to Z-standard for utility shelves.

One more important tip when putting up your shelves you want to minimize any sagging. The best way to prevent sagging shelves is to mount your brackets at least 6" (inches) from the ends of the shelves.

Sometimes people just grab a tarp off the shelf with only a vague idea of how large it is and then get home to find that it is not the right size for uses they have in mind. Consider what you will be using the tarp for carefully and make any necessary measurements. This is especially important for home improvement uses. For instance, if you are using it to cover a roof during roof repair you should have a good idea of the roof's square footage. You may need one tarp or several to cover the entire roof.

Tarp Material:

As mentioned above, tarps may be made from various different materials. Some of the most common are polypropylene, canvas, and vinyl or PVC laminate mesh. Each have different uses and advantages. Polypropylene tarps have the advantage of being the least expensive and most widely available material. They are also quite strong and durable. Mesh tarps may also be called shade cloth and are a light fabric that is useful for sun protection. These tarps are lightweight and good looking while still being quite durable. Finally, canvas tarps are some the strongest and can be used for heavy duty activities such as covering vehicles, boating, as drop cloths for painting, and so on.

These are some things to consider when looking for and buying a tarpaulin. Tarps are not created equal, so make sure you get one that is suited to the specific uses and conditions you have in mind. In informed purchase is essential in getting the best longevity and performance out of a tarpaulin.

A Checklist for Bathroom Remodeling Plans

Careful planning is the key to a successful bathroom-remodeling project. Before you begin any work in the bathroom, create a budget, a floor plan, a list of supplies, a timetable, and important legal considerations. Let's break it down by subject.

First, create a budget. Determine how much money you can comfortably spend, and save about 20 percent for emergencies. Get estimates for the work that needs professionals, and always include electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling, and drywall installation costs in your budget.

Fourth, create a timetable. Talk to experts or people at home improvement stores to plan how much time you'll need. If you're hiring contractors, work with them to design a timetable you all can follow.

Plan projects according to the time you have available. Put in a new toilet and sink one weekend, for example, and paint another. You don't have to do it all at once, so plan sensibly. Don't paint the walls or install woodwork until the hardware is taken care of -- you don't want to damage work you've already done. Above all, be flexible and allow time for the unexpected or even emergencies to happen.

Fifth, keep in mind legal considerations. Get and post a building permit, pay any necessary fees, make sure you, your contractor, and any workers have insurance coverage, and keep children and animals away from the construction area.

How To Build A Biodiesel Processor

Biodiesel is a fuel that is friendly to the environment and can easily be made in your own home using everyday things like waste vegetable oil as your main ingredient. The great thing about biodiesel is that you only need three simple ingredients to make it. All you really need is methanol, new or used oil, and lye.

This is how to build your processor. First of all, you have to set up the drum by cutting a large hole in the top of a steel drum. You then drill a hole about 1.5 inches into the bottom of this drum. Be prepared to attach a pipe to it. Simply weld a pipe the same diameter as the hole to the bottom of the drum.

You will need to attach a brass ball valve to this pipe. This will be your drain valve. Just so you know it does not have to be brass, but using brass makes the valve more durable. Drill another hole into the side of the drum but this time in the bottom, make it the same size as your heater element. Alright, now go ahead and fit your heater element properly, making sure it is not touching the either side of the drum. Ok, across the top of the drum, weld a piece of angle iron. This angle iron will be there to offer support for the mixing apparatus. The unattached side of the hinge should then be attached to the angle iron so the propeller and rod assembly sits in the middle of the drum.

With your hinge now fixed it should swing the propeller and rod back and forth. The next step involves you finally mounting the electric motor onto the side of the drum. You should be able to mount the motor directly to the drum without it tipping the drum. Fit a belt to the pulleys and tighten it to desired length by wedging a block of wood into the hinge. A tight belt is necessary to help you to mix the biodiesel in the drum. The last thing you need is a simple measuring stick and you are done.
